Giving a good blowjob is not only an amazing experience for your partner, it can be totally empowering for you too. And like everything in sex, there’s no right or wrong way when it comes to giving head. However, there are a few tricks of the trade that we can teach you to set you on the path to blowjob brilliance.

Want to give him an amazing blowjob that he won’t forget in a while? Whether you’re a first-timer, or you’re looking for some new ideas to shake things up a little, here are our 5 tips to giving great head:

1. Don’t overthink it

Tip number one: don’t overthink it. Instead of constantly worrying about whether you’re doing it right or not, try and relax. If you’re not relaxed then you probably won’t feel comfortable. As a result, your partner might not feel comfortable either.

Ease yourself into it and be confident. He’s probably going to love the fact that you are down there at all. So just remember, you’re in control, so have fun and relax.

Bonus tip: just keep talking

If you are uncertain about your technique or whether he is enjoying the blowjob you’re giving him, talking with your partner and getting feedback can be very helpful. Don’t be afraid to stop and ask what he likes and doesn’t like, what he is enjoying and what he’s not enjoying so much.

2. Slow is sexy

Tip number 2: start slow. It’s worth remembering that the best blowjobs aren’t over in a flash; don’t rush in, start off slowly. Yes, keeping a regular rhythm with your mouth can help build up to a mind-blowing orgasm, but there’s no need to endlessly bob your head up and down.

Starting off slowly will not only give you time to acclimatise and find a workable rhythm, but it will also mean you can make the blowjob more sensual, make it last longer, and make the whole experience more memorable.

    Bonus tip: vary the depth

Now we’re not saying dive in with a deep throat, but why not play around with depth. Try changing between shallow sucks (with just the tip of his penis between your lips), and deeper ones. You could start with all shallow, then move on to a mix of shallow and deep once you’ve built your confidence up.

    3. Use your hands

Tip number 3: don’t forget to use your hands. Yes, it’s called a blowjob, and you’re supposed to use your mouth, but why not make use of your hands too? Sure, there’s something to be said about a hands-free blowjob, but why waste your versatile and dexterous digits during your sucking session?

Try gently playing with his testicles, running your fingers up his inner thighs, or pinching his nipples (if that’s his thing).

    Bonus tip: all hands in

The thought of going deep can be pretty daunting. If taking it all in isn’t your thing, try holding the base of his penis with your hand and moving it up and down in time with your mouth. This can help give the sensation of going deep without making it uncomfortable for you.

    4. Don’t just focus on his penis

Tip number 4: giving good head can mean using all parts of your mouth across many different erogenous zones.

We know that the head of the penis is one of the most sensitive areas, and so it’s likely you will be spending a fair bit of time there. There is no need to neglect his other pleasure points though. Why not try some gentle licking and sucking of his testicles and inner thighs?

Bonus tip: take the full tour

Before you even begin sucking his penis, try exploring his body with your mouth first, gently kiss his stomach and thighs before finally letting your lips touch the tip of his penis. The build-up and suspense should really get him in the zone.

Once you do get down to the sucking, try licking the whole length of his penis with your tongue. If you fancy it, making eye contact while you do this can be a real turn-on – very sexy!

    5. Make sure you enjoy it!

Tip number 5: please enjoy yourself! If you’re not enjoying the experience, your partner will likely be able to tell, which no doubt will affect their enjoyment. So, communicate! Let him know how you’re feeling and ask him what he’s enjoying.

Bonus tip: give yourself a break

Don’t worry, pausing for a break doesn’t have to mean ruining the moment. Add a little excitement by coming up for a kiss, using your hands for a bit, or even try touching yourself – this is about both of you having a good time after all.

Keep a little water by the bed and take a few sips to keep your mouth moist. Not only does it make it easier for you and ensure you get regular breaks, but the change in temperature can feel great on his penis and open him up to a world of new sensations.

And that’s it. Our top 5 tips (and 5 bonus tips) for giving an amazing blowjob. Still unsure but want to know more? In this video, the lovely Suzanne elaborates on our top tips and tricks to help set you on the path to some sensual and exceptional sucking.

    Hello, I’m Suzanne.

Today, I’m going to talk to you about how to give a good blowjob, in my opinion.

And, I’ve basically broken it down into 5 points.

So, I’m just going to jump straight in with my first tip, which is, don’t get in your own head.

Let’s be realistic, they can’t do this to themselves.

So, don’t constantly worry about things like, “am I doing it right?” because, chances are, they’re going to love the attention that you are giving them down there, so go with it.

My second point would be to start off slowly.

And then, once you’ve got used to it, vary the pace.

I think, if you’re going to go straight in with a really quick pace and you’ve not quite gotten used to getting a breathing pattern, shall we say, then you’re going to tire yourself out and struggle and need to stop to breath.

And obviously breathing is a very important skill that we all need to use.

So, if you go in all guns blazing, then you’re going to need to stop and that will interrupt the flow.

So, my third and fourth tip kind of link together.

The third tip is to use your hands.

Just because it’s called a blowjob and you’re supposed to use your mouth, doesn’t mean it’s completely exclusive.

Use your hands to touch, stroke, that sort of thing.

So then, the fourth tip, which links into the third tip, is don’t neglect their testicles or upper thighs or lower abdomen because that’s all a very sensitive area, it’s all in an erogenous zone.

So, any stimulation from those areas can also add to the effect and it just makes it a more enjoyable thing, I guess.

So then, my fifth and final tip or point is: enjoy it!

Because if you’re not enjoying it, then they won’t be enjoying it and you probably shouldn’t even be doing it anyway.

So, don’t stress and just keep talking.

Communication really is the key in so much of sex.

And don’t forget to ask them to let you know before they come so you’re ready.

And remember, you can still get STIs from oral sex so it’s better if you use a condom, better safe than sorry.

So yeah, those are my tips to give a blowjob, Enjoy!

    Let’s recap

Still lost when it comes to the world of blowjobs? Let’s recap. Here's how to give a really good blowjob in 5 steps:

    Don’t forget the lube

Most of our lubes are suitable for oral and means you can both enjoy a smoother sensation without worrying about drying out – you could even add some fun with flavoured lubes. Just squeeze a few drops into your hand and massage it onto his penis before moving in with your mouth.
