Many women don’t orgasm through penetrative sex alone – with some preferring oral sex, fingering, and clitoral stimulation to reach climax. To find out what works for you, it’s a great idea to try different positions and different forms of stimulation. You may even want to try bringing lubes into the equation to maximise sensations.

If you are finding it difficult to orgasm during sex, these five positions may be the perfect solution:

  1. Revamped Missionary
  2. Downward Doggy
  3. The Bridge
  4. Reverse Cowgirl
  5. Sideways Spoon

1. Revamped Missionary

If you don’t usually orgasm from penetration alone, this one might just be for you. Begin in the missionary sex position, on your back with your partner on top of you. Have them pull their body up towards your head so that their pelvis is slightly higher than yours.

Instead of thrusting in and out, they can move in more of a gentle grinding action against your pelvis to start off with. This can help stimulate your clit – the direct stimulation that some women need to reach orgasm.

To turn things up a notch, place your legs on your partner’s shoulders for a new angle and deeper penetration.

2. Downward Doggy

Start on your hands and knees as your partner kneels behind you, holding onto your hips as they thrust in and out. To change the angle of penetration, get down on your elbows. The intensity of this position could allow for stimulation of the elusive G-spot.

Another option is to lower your chest to the bed as you leave your hips high in the air and your partner crouches low.

Try using one hand to rub your clit or your partner could reach around with their hand and do the same.

3. The Bridge

This is another position that we feel is one of the best positions for experiencing an orgasm. Begin by lying on your back as your partner kneels in front of you. Whilst on your back, bend your knees and place your feet flat on the bed, then arch your hips up towards the ceiling so you’re in a low bridge. Your partner can then enter the space between your legs, holding your hips to use them as leverage.

The bridge is also a great position to introduce some clitoral stimulation with hands or even a sex toy. The Intense Delight Bullet Vibrator for example is small, easy to use, and delivers powerful vibrations which could complement The Bridge position perfectly.

4. Reverse Cowgirl

To start with, ask your partner to lie down on the bed on their back, as you straddle them backwards so that you’re facing their feet. As you move up and down in a rhythmic pace, lean forward for a different angle, depth of penetration and sensation. If you want a bit of a twist, you can lean backwards using your hands to balance.

Your partner can run their fingers down your back or reach around and caress your chest and clit as they move in and out of you.

5. Sideways Spoon

As well as being cute and intimate, as your partner will be cuddling you from behind, this is one of the easiest positions for dual stimulation. Lie on your sides with your partner behind you so that you’re both facing the same direction, as you push your bum towards them.

As they enter you, your partner can easily reach around and stimulate your clitoris. For some extra stimulation, ask them to gently press a vibrator to your favourite spots.
