Imagine Mother Nature on acid and this Central American country ticks all the boxes. Think blue butterflies the size of your head, leaves as big as umbrellas and waters teeming with kaleidoscopic sea life. Why now? Direct flights from the UK have finally been launched – Thomson introduced a new route from Gatwick to Liberia in November, while British Airways is set to fly there from Gatwick from 27 April. From adrenalin-pumping walks up volcanoes to remote rainforest retreats, larks on the beach to spectacular wildlife, Costa Rica is an all-round crowd pleaser for adventurous couples in and outside the bedroom.
What better way to ramp up the X factor of your honeymoon than heading to Rio – one of the world’s sexiest destinations. Sizzling beach beauties with cracking bodies will get you both hot under the collar in Brazil’s sassiest city – and the party will be bigger than ever here in 2016 with the hosting of the first Olympic Games in South America. The action hits from 5-21 August, and the Paralympics from 7-18 September, but the buzz before and after will ensure there’s never been a better time to descend on Rio. Pack your sun cream, Durex Treat for Both pleasure sets and stamina – you’ll need it!
It may not be cheap to fly Down Under and it’ll take you 24 hours to get there, but at least that gives you plenty of time to join the mile high club. And what treats await you and your better half on arrival – whether you’re looking for hip city hangouts, alluring beaches, or epic natural wonders, Australia has it all. The good news? With the weak Australian dollar, everything is value for money, whilst petrol prices are dropping – perfect for that romantic road trip. Who’s telling where you’ll get down and dirty!
Gin-clear waters, castaway isles and chic waterside retreats – this South Pacific destination takes some beating. And 2016 will see the Nadi International Airport revamped, which should increase capacity and make it easier than ever to reach. Whether you’re a diving nut, a beach bather or occasionally like to pull out your sailing outfit, Fiji is a dead cert for ocean lovers.
What’s better than sex? Food of course! And this Spanish beachside town has some of the finest fodder around – whether you’re after traditional plates of garlicky seafood and strips of salty serrano ham or inventive dishes in some of the country’s top Michelin star restaurants and rustic tapas bars. A prime cut for culinary travellers, San Sebastián is also European Capital of Culture 2016 with a whole programme of events to keep you busy. Hungry anyone?
